USDA market comment: "Compared to the last report, Demand for hay continues to be high. We have received some rain, but unfortunately it has been too late in the year. All types of hay are being moved to be prepared for fall and winter. Oklahoma is still seeking rain. The Oklahoma Mesonet Drought Monitor indicates that 24.39 percent of the state is experiencing exceptional drought, 55.43 percent is in extreme drought, 92.40 percent is in severe drought, 99.82 percent is in moderate drought, 100.00 percent is in abnormally dry conditions, and 0.00 percent has no drought conditions. * The next report release will be on October 16th *" For scale, USDA NASS's monthly state average for August 2026 was $112.00/ton for all hay (alfalfa $193.00, other hay $101.00; US all hay $190.00) (NASS Agricultural Prices, 29 Sep 2026).
