What hay sold for this week in 20 US states, per bale and per ton

Hay prices in Missouri this week: per bale and per ton

Source: USDA AMS Missouri Direct Hay Report, published Thu 1 Oct 2026, for the week ending 2 Oct 2026 (PDF). 12 price lines, all asking or offer prices this week (no confirmed trades in the report), 5 of them priced per bale. USDA market comment: "Conditions across the state of Missouri are two very different stories. In the north moisture has been plentiful with harvest delays occurring for some. To the south a drastically different story where lack of water and pastures has become a very concerning problem. Hay feeding is taking place, along with some light culling of some herds. At this time there is no overall shortage of hay as spring was good across the state and there was a lot of hay baled. Those in the dry areas however aren't likely to find anyone local willing to sale much and the high fuel cost makes getting any hay trucked expensive in a hurry." For scale, USDA NASS's monthly state average for August 2026 was $107.00/ton for all hay (alfalfa $180.00, other hay $95.00; US all hay $190.00) (NASS Agricultural Prices, 29 Sep 2026). Qty is tons for per-ton rows and bales for per-bale rows. Trade and Contract rows are confirmed sales; Ask and Offer rows are quoted prices, not sales.
