Confirmed hay volume this week: 201 tons and 2,300 bales. The report splits the state into regions (Northeast, San Luis Valley, Southeast, Southwest); the region is in the Notes column. USDA market comment: "Compared to last report: Trade activity Moderate. Demand Good to Very Good all markets of new crop hay. Premium small squares of alfalfa sold 25-75 cents/bale higher. Corn Silage harvest is mostly done in northern Colorado with southern Colorado delayed from last week's rain. Southeast Colorado received between 2-4" of rain last week, stretching from Pueblo to Lamar. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor's High Plains Summary for October 6, 2026, widespread heavy precipitation abetted robust improvement across eastern Colorado, central and western Kansas, and parts of southern Nebraska." For scale, USDA NASS's monthly state average for August 2026 was $231.00/ton for all hay (alfalfa $235.00, other hay $180.00; US all hay $190.00) (NASS Agricultural Prices, 29 Sep 2026).
