Timber prices in Michigan, Jul-Sep 2026: state forest sales

Source: Average Stumpage Price Report for 7/1/2026 to 9/30/2026, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Forest Resources Division, dated 10/15/2026 (PDF, all reports). The table shows the statewide rows for sawtimber, in dollars per MBF, weighted by volume: number of advertised State Forest sales sold, total volume, the average advertised (minimum bid) price, the average sold price, the percent change between them and the minimum and maximum sold prices; the PDF also breaks every species down by management unit and state forest, and lists pulpwood per cord. Log rules differ by region, as the report's general note 3 says: Scribner Decimal C in the Upper Peninsula, International 1/4" in the Northern Lower Peninsula, so no single conversion is applied. The report's own words: "This report is intended to serve only as a guide to timber stumpage prices and to monitor market trends. It should not be used to determine the fair market value of a specific timber sale ... prices in this report are not necessarily a reflection of current prices." Species with few sales and low volume should be used with caution, as the report says.
